Participation in the International Cybercamp CyberWizards in Estonia
This action was carried out in the framework of strengthening cooperation between the National Cyber Security Coordination Centres (NCCs), as provided for in Regulation 887/21, as well as the broader policy and strategy of our Organisation to implement awareness activities for students on cybersecurity, and to foster relationships with other countries.
Following last year’s participation, this year’s camp aimed to train and raise awareness among 13-16 year old schoolgirls in the field of cybersecurity, with the support of the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (ECCC). The programme offered a comprehensive educational package of knowledge and activities to the participants, focused on cybersecurity, both for children from Estonia and from other participating countries.
In particular, the participants gained knowledge and skills on topics such as information retrieval, handling cyberattacks, internet protection and the use of operating systems.
The Cypriot delegation, consisted of five female students aged 15–16 from various cities in Cyprus. They were accompanied by οne member of the NCC-CY team, Computer Science Teacher from the Ministry of Education of Cyprus.
This experience clearly demonstrated the importance of strengthening education in cybersecurity through modern and experiential learning methods, offering participants diverse knowledge in the field and encouraging the active participation of women in a sector with low female representation.
